Once There Was a Little Dream

Once there was a little dream,

How it dared to hope.

It couldn’t quite rip the seam,

And cling to the little rope,

That was the difference between,

Reality and insanity,

It leaned,

Trying to defy gravity.

Once there was a little dream,

That wandered from afar,

Like the cat who ate the cream,

Without being barred.

The little dream was strong,

Love, it’s only hope,

It didn’t know right from wrong,

Or how it would cope.

Once there was a little dream,

Never questioning impossibles.

Always clutching at the seam,

Trying to break through impoliteness.

The little dream was sad,

The little dream was lost,

The little dream was not bad,

But covered with frost.

If you were that little dream,

Where do you think you’d be?

Would you be on a mountain,

Or drowning in a stream?

As that little dream would claim,

Nothing here and nothing there,

Would be able to maim,

The many thoughts its mind shares,

Though lost in time,

The little dream was smart,

The little dream was fine.
