Little Girl, Why do you hate yourself?

Posted in Poems, Sad Poems with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 4, 2013 by Myra's Circle

Little girl,

Why do you smile even though you’re crying?
And pretend you’re OK, when inside you are dying?
Why do you wish that you were something else?
Why do you always hide the pain you’ve felt?

Why do you laugh at things that hurt you inside?
Why do you cover all the tears you have cried?
Why do you hate yourself, and why cause yourself such harm?
Why do you always pretend to be so calm?

Fire on the River

And I watched as the river burst into flame,

Sparks and water dancing, one and the same.

I watched as the fire cascaded the earth,

Fierier than the hottest hearth.

I watched as the hot light filled the darkest of nights,

One of the most fantastic of sights.

I watched the sparks erode away,

Oh why can’t something so beautiful stay?

I watched from my safe little place,

Than disappeared without leaving a trace.

The beautiful fires that filled the dark night,

Spilled a beautiful, colourful, lovely, hot light.

In a World of My Own

Faraway, in a world of my own, there’s a place we’ll all be free.  In this world, everyone would be at peace and get along, like the flowers growing along the path.  In the winter, the snow would fall and blanket the earth and the flowers, like icing sugar on a cake.  There, the sky would always be blue, and no smoke or smog would smoulder the sky.  Birds would sing sweetly, a new song each morning, and creatures would go about their daily lives without being bothered by us humans.  We would protect the extremely endangered species, like the white rhinoceros and the giant panda.  No one would ever feel left out because we would all look out for each other.  If someone fell over, someone else would bend over to help them and ask, “Are you okay?” without thinking about it.  There would be no ‘kings’ or ‘queens’, because no one would commit crimes.  The land would not be ravaged by war, or famine, and if someone was lonely, another person would sit next to them and be their friend.  The grass there would be just as green as the ‘other side’, and whenever someone saw a piece of rubbish on the ground, they would pick it up and put it in the bin without hesitating.  There would be no factories, no polluting cars or roads, just beautiful green hills everywhere.

This world sounds perfect, doesn’t it?  Well guess what?  That little world is ours, just without all of the war, famine, loneliness, pollution, hate, fear, criminals and sadness.  That’s what our world would look like, at least, in my dream.

Little Birdy

Little birdy in the nest,

Tucked in safe, just like the rest.

The little birdy had a dream,

Of love and peace and to be free.

It sang as high as it could sing,

And dreamed of being a fitful king.

The little birdies will sleep well tonight.

Birdy’s on my shoulder,

Pecking my ear to a smoulder.

Whispering secrets it never meant,

Hushing sighs and off it went.

It had some lies under its wing,

A nice little lie song it would sing.

The little birdies will sleep well tonight.

Whispers never go unheard,

Stories that are quite absurd,

A string of lies by a little bird.

And the  little birdies

Will sleep well tonight.

Dog

I have a little dog,

with his little tail a waggin’,

Lets out a little growl,

Sounds like a little dragon.

By night he yowls and yowls and yowls,

By morn he prowls and prowls and prowls,

The garden searching for the cat.

Oh, that catty little rat,

Such a little brat.

An ear in the bush,

a tail in the tree,

Dog feels a rush,

And then tries to leap.

SPRING!

His chances were slim,

The cat too fast,

For the spell the dog cast.

Moonbeam

Posted in Hopeful Poems, Poems with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 15, 2012 by Myra's Circle

Last night I looked outside,

And saw a pool of water,

There wasn’t any tide,

But I still caught her.

A little girl wading,

With skin like pale milk,

Crying, raiding,

Skin shining like silk.

She emitted a soft glow,

A tear dropped from her eye,

The wind did slightly blow,

She let out a little sigh.

I called into the night,

“Who are you, little girl?”

The girl looked very startled,

Very shocked upon my sight,

But then replied, “I’m moonbeam,”

And gave a little twirl.

Strange things did happen then,

And I was shocked to see,

The pool turned a ghastly glow again,

I thought it was a dream.

The little girl’s tears did fall,

As she climbed out of the pool,

Answering a call, an angry sort of drawl,

She whispered to none I can see, perhaps it was a rule,

“Oh, how I’ll miss this little pool.”

That night was very odd,

No odder would it be,

If the little girl came once again to the lodge,

And stayed for me to see.

My Little Promise

Posted in Poems, Promises with tags , , , , , , , , on July 2, 2012 by Myra's Circle

I promise:

To do what’s right no matter the cost,

And try to forget all that I’ve lost.

To remember the people who love me so,

And love them more than they can know.

I promise:

I’ll be my best, no matter what it’ll be,

And care for someone other than me.

I’ll try to be kind to everyone I meet,

Because everyone on the way’s a treat.

I promise:

To hope enough for more than two,

And care for friends when they are blue.

I will love more than it is true,

And there won’t be days which I will rue.

I promise:

To live life to the very full,

And take the horns of the bull.

To be a friend to those who have naught,

And teach those who have not been taught.

I promise:

To be there when others are not,

And care for people more than a lot.

I will shine my light extremely bright,

And be a kid, I may, I might.

I promise:

To find someone with whom I’m in love,

Who doesn’t need a push or shove.

I will find myself a little cove,

To little to ever move.

I promise:

To see that my friends are okay,

And talk to them everyday.

To be a friend to everyone,

And always have a lot of fun.
