Put On a Smile and Keep Moving On

She smiles although the world has gone dark.

She presses her finger in, till it leaves a mark.

Painless, numb, from her dull aching heart,

Tears threaten to spill,

No medicine, drug or pill,

Can spare her pounding head.

Her cheeks flush red,

Scratched until they bled.

Bleeding, hurting,

Nothing can save her now.

Blood begins to flow.

Her face strains,

Eyes full of pain.

She puts on a smile,

For her last little while.

She fades away slowly,

Her flame burnt out.

She feels weightless.

Free.
